Job Needs and Characteristics

This position will work as a shipboard resource, acting as the liaison between ship management and onshore company resources. The ability to travel and be deployed for 20-30 days at a time is required for this role, with 2-3 weeks on land.

The Location Services Technician will support the Incident Management Team in tracking, managing, and solving incidents that interrupt the Guest experience. The Location Services Technician will have the opportunity to travel to new countries, meet people from around the world, and learn valuable skills along the way. This will include collaboration at the forefront of innovation with Carnival Corporation (CCL) for experience business solutions regarding the OCEAN™ Medallion.

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Hospitality, or similar degree/experience
  • Knowledge of networking technologies and network protocols: DNS, DHCP, VPN, VoIP, WINS, DFS, GPO, Active-Sync, WEB, Proxy, DHCP, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the following operating systems: Linux, Windows, and Mac OS
  • Experience with wireless technologies and structured cabling standards
  • Experience with network appliances including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points
  • Able to engage in technical and functional discussion and resolution
  • Exceptional communications including spoken, written, active listening, and general body language
  • Outstanding critical thinking abilities
  • Passion for meeting new people and exploring new places
  • Experience with project management software, i.e., Jira and Confluence, is a plus


As a Location Services Technician, you will diagnose technology issues using specialty software and make solution-based recommendations to fix issues in a timely fashion. This is a highly innovative technology role that is perfect for tech-savvy individuals who thrive on both personal interaction and troubleshooting.

  • Report to the Shipboard Operations Manager to manage shipboard incidents, updates, and progress
  • Manage activation and stabilization onboard the ships with design and installation teams to prioritization locations
  • Operate the night shift onboard to properly finetune location readers
  • Manage applications in the cloud with network tools and enterprise storage
  • Maintain documentation of procedures, policies, settings, systems, solutions, etc.
  • Monitor location services sensors from calibration to stabilization, understanding the infrastructure for immediate remediation
  • Physically perform diagnostics and navigate repairs in a timely fashion, including standing for long periods of time, climbing ladders, and cable repair and installation
  • Assist with system performance monitoring and analysis both in-person and remote
  • Provide assistance to leadership and development teams regarding system defects, demo presentations, and management operations
  • Act as point-of-contact for the front-end and back-end development teams    

Salary range is up to 50k based on skills and past experience.
